Is it true that these fish are on the ban list for importing?

i havent herd that eather. They had them everywhere this week. LFS, wholesaler's and transhipers

They are pretty common, so I doubt it. I have seen lots of new one lately.

Haven't heard that either. Are they indigenous to the Red Sea??? I remember when they were quite rare (in the hobby) but I see them all the time now

A couple months ago someone at an LFS told me they had stopped getting shipments of anything from the Red Sea for a while, but that has apparently resumed, as that same store had a pair of purples last week.

From what I understand, purple tangs were previously expensive because they were not often collected, for the same reason Asfur angels were so expensive. There are now more permanent collecting sites in the Red Sea so the availability has gone up and the prices down. I just bought another purple tang last week, so they are still around.

Thanks guys.....I just heard rumor of it myself, but always see them in the store and thought it was kinda odd. Anyone know where you could get a list of fish that are on the ban list?
