Purple Tilefish Goby

Does ANYONE have for sale, or know where I can get a trio of purple tilefish? Been looking for a while, can't seem to locate any. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have asked all the LFS in town, however no one can seem to find them. Oh well, guess I will keep looking....

Its a gorgeous fish imo. I would rank the purple 1st follow by the yellow and the flashing tilefish 3rd. But beware, they are jumpers, lost mine unexpectedly. It was stable for months until I found their dried carcass on the floor. Seems they jumped during lights off, not immediately after.

very difficult fish to keep..i had one for several years, and one day it choked on a piece of fish i fed it. i had another one about 2 months ago that jumped and one that would never eat. for one reason or another they are challenging. i am expecting 2 tomorrow; however, i have not recieved tracking numbers yet.

Keep the tanks covered people and overflows tight. If there's a hole, they'll find it no matter how small.

I've kept a number of purples and flashers, and sadly, they always find a hole or an open lid.

Beautiful fish, hope you enjoy them.

Love them, but they are VERY tough to get to feed and very skittish which exacerbates the problem. I have an old thread on mine, who eventually ate but then died for no apparent reason.

That's strange, I have found them to not be finicky at all when it came to feeding, but every circumstance is different.

mine are both eating in QT, one more than the other. i got my first purple tilefish in 2003 and found they are hard fish to keep. however, ime they seem to fail for many different reasons.
i have the qt covered with egg crate and was lucky while viewing that one of the tilefish squirmed his way through the egg crate, like an eel. i wouldn't have believed it, if i didn't see it with my own eyes; the holes are no bigger than his body. i think they accidentally find ways to hurt themselves?

Yeah, egg crates not gonna cut it. I had an overflow that was covered by egg crate and lost a well acclimated flashing time to getting stuck trying to go through the egg crate. They are very much a fish that likes to work their way into holes and tight spots. I imagine they are always looking for that next best hiding spot.

Well, I was fortunate enough to purchase 4 of them after waiting and searching for them for a year and a half. Tank is covered, and all have come out and are eating within 36 hours. They are a little bigger than most that you see for sale. Successful so far! They are very vibrant and don't seem to be very shy, which is very lucky! Good luck to all of you who have them!

I still can't find one anywhere in Canada for sale and I've been searching for over a year now as well. Been on want lists at lfs's with no luck. Anyone got advice?
