Hello

long time reader, first time poster. i bought a purple tip anemone from the local lfs last night. he was about a inch when i got him and he has tripled in size since i put him in my tank. the lfs said they had him for over a month and that he just appeared one day, so i guess they did not order it. lfs said the name was purple milky white anemone. he is white so i think he is bleached and his tentacles look like pieces of rice with a bright purple, pink tip on them. his base is also white. please help me id it. thank you

Blurry pic, but looks like a bleached sebae.
Hope you have decent light for it.
Size increase is good sign, but you better get on the 40g upgrade soon.
Welcome to RC!

That's good light, but a bigger tank will be more stable, and most nems need good water params/established tank.
They can get big as well.
COVER ALL INTAKES!!

"PURPLE MILKY WHITE ANEMONE"

That is one i haven't heard before, or want to hear when i'm buying a new nem. Good luck, as it will need some tlc to turn around.

by the way, i think its a h. malu, doesn't look like a crispa to me.

wetwebmedia will have a lot of info on this species of nem.

I agree, it looks like a bleached Sebae. Not sure whether malu or crispa.

I would start feeding it small pieces of squid or scallop, 2-3 times a week since it's bleached and those are relatively easy to digest. It should make a come back given time and excellent water conditions.

I wouldn't even try to determine malu or crispa w/ out seeing base/foot.
Pic is blurry, but when I see it I think it looks exactly like my crispa did when it was new.
I'd give it half a silverside, once or twice a week.
If it has settled/not wandering and growing it should be fine.
Mine was a bleached out petco refugee(b4 this site and b4 I knew better) and it turned out to be fine, almost TOO fine!LOL
Now it's a monster!
Good luck.
