if you have a tank that has no coraline on it whatsoever. would purple up be good for it?

What is your lighting, CA, alk and did you have some LR that had corraline and not all base rock? How long has your tank been up and running?

IME, once you have a sense of your tanks' chemistry, kalkwasser (my preference) or other calcium supplement on a constant drip to make up evaporated water will get you where you want to be. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen. You do need some seed rock to get it started but if there's any pink/purple, on any of the rock, you're set! good luck!

My tank has been up for about 6 weeks and I am just starting to see the coralline spread to the powerheads and to the 3 pieces of base rock I have in there.

If you have no coralline whatsoever no it will not grow. It needs to be introduced to the tank in order to spread.
