Putting a skimmer in a HOB fuge

I have a 40g breeder and no space for a sump. I have a Tanze Comline 9004 skimmer inside my tank and it seems to take up a bit of space. Im trying to see if a HOB fuge similar to this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CPR-medium-...re-/251221297715?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

can house my skimmer just to conserve space in the tank itself. I know the dimensions are correct but would the skimmer be getting to all of my water?

I've read about sumps and blah blah blah, but for whatever reason I have a tough time grasping the ENTIRE concept. Simply I just want to house my skimmer outside of my tank, without drilling, and with minimal cost. Overflows are not entirely trustworthy so I don't want to go that route.

I don't think the engineers that designed the CPR intended for the extra weight of a skimmer on the acrylic bonds.....but it might work.

Why not use a HOB Skimmer instead of buying a fuge just to hold a skimmer??? Just sell your Tunze and use the money you would have spent on the fuge toward the skimmer. I have an Aquamaxx HOB-1 and the newer models are freakin awesome! Highly recommend.

By the way, if you want to save a little money, you can get the JNS version at Saltysupply.com for $200.

well I really like the tunze or else I would. originally I was going for the reef octopus 90 hob but I just found the Tunze at a lfs that had it up for $140 which is below a lot of online stores pricing.

Dont get a hob fuge, i had one and just turned into a detritus trap. Got rid of it and got an eshopps hob skimmer, and tank has been great for over two years with no sump. Just hob skimmer, canister, and gfo reactor.
