putty

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a place or places where I can get my hands on some of that putty stuff people use to attach frags to live rock. And also if know around how much the stuff should be going for would be awesome also. tia

from my personal experience, it's better to use ic-gel or other thick super glue. epoxy sticks don't seem to adhere well to frags unless the rock underneath the frag is very large. i've had frags, after a month, pushed off by large snails that had epoxy holding them. epoxy seems more useful when aquascaping large live rock together. good luck!

do you know of any LFS's in san francisco that carry it?
If I go to home depot and get it, do i need to make sure it doesn't have a certain chemical or anything?

Aquamend which can be found at HD or Lowes is a brand name, and you can find it at any HD in the area - Westlake or Colma.

Like everone else says, Aquamend. Just don't go to the HD I go to because I usually buy them all. :)

Tip:
What I do that works really well is mix and ball up the putty you are about to use. Put a dab of super gel on one side of the ball and fix it to the frag. The put another dab on the other side of the ball and fix the frag to where you want it. That way the super gel will help hold it in place while the putty dries or else the frag will fall from the putty sometimes. The putty works well with the super gel because it makes a perfect fit in between the frag and place of attachment. HTH

If you're in the southbay, stop by Amazon on Branham. Ken has aquascape there, it's the best stuff I've used -no super glue needed. I've tried aquamend and the aquarium systems stuff and they don't compare. I also like the fact that aquascape is pink.

I like the aquamend as well.. I've tried the aquascape but it heated up too much for me.. I do the pea sized ball of aquamend with a dot of icgel onto the frag then a dot onto the rock.. Holds really well...
