so i am waiting on my new lifereef HOB overflow and im wondering for my drain
should I go pvc or vinyl tubing down into sump? I know HOB overflow yuck.
does it even matter? im thinking off adding a union also for obvious reasons.
If you use an ATO float switch above normal operating level and below the rim of the tank you can prevent an overflow if you plug your return pump into it.
In the off chance the overflow fails, it shuts the pump off prior to making a mess.

Since it is above normal water level it doesn't really matter. If it's too big though it may have too long of an activation travel to be both above the normal water line and below the rim.
I recommend the autotopoff.com longwire setup. Just want a single switch and a proper mounting bracket. Cheap insurance.
