PVC Question

Can I use regular pvc cement for attaching spa-flex (flexible pvc) to hard pvc. I can't find this cement anywhere except for the internet and I'm trying to do this Saturday. ( You can not ship cement over night or I would have done this.)

Thanks

Most of the "pvc type" glues will work on most pvc/abs. We are not running tons of pressure.

The biggest error people make when gluing any type of pvc is walk out/back out, where the two pieces try to come apart.

Make sure to press the pieces together as far as they will go and don't let go for a good minute while trying to gently twist the pieces together.

Other than the process stated there should be no issue at all.

Thanks, back out happened to me yesterday while I was practicing. Also I just went to Niagra spa's by me and they said they use regular cement on spa-flex. Good enough for me.

Thanks again for your input.

Regular PVC glue is fine with flex. The issue with the flex is it takes longer to set than the ridgid. For example, Pressure testing at 30psi with ridgid you can almost do immediately (usually 5 minutes though), but flex needs about 15 minutes or so before Pressure testing or it will blow out. Dont try and re-glue the same spot on flex if you have problems either (backout, re-do, etc) It doesnt make the same strength bond if you try and re-do. You need to cut-off the area that was glued and start over if thats the case.

if you coat the fitting properly there is no need to give it a twist. Twisting the fittings together actually make a weaker joint. Then again as was said we are not dealing with much pressure. It is recommened under "high pressure" to wait 24 hours, I have powered up irrigation systems in less than an hour with few problems at 35psi.

boofer i say that all the time "It can be always be worse" great quote.
