oK, where does everyone get the ball valves that are also unions, like this:

I'd like to find it locally at a hardware store or something vs. online.

white or gray, I don't care.

Not from Rochester so I can't reccomend a specific place, but plumbing supply stores are what you're looking for. In Buffalo, ERB plumbing has them, although the last time I bought them, I got em from ARC and I believe Randy's price was at least as good, if not better than ERB's

I'm pretty sure I've seen them at the lowes down here. Sizes are kinda limited IIRC, but I'm pretty sure they carry them.

what about Black's hardware? that's pretty close by.

Edit: none at Black's or Debbie's

Lowes has them, but sometimes they are by the copper piping supplies, not with the smaller sched 40 pvc fittings. i know all 4 around rochester have them with Brockport seeming to have the most variety, but all 4 have the union valves that look like this

True-union ball valve is the technical term. I actually think bulk reef supply *might* sell them. Flexpvc.com is another online source to check.

Cool, I'll have to try Lowes in Brockport. It's funny, I don't remember ever seeing them there, but I've never looked for them either... thanks!

Got them. Lowes has them in slip fit. I'm surprised because usually it's the hardware supply places that have the hard to find stuff. One more reason Lowes > Home Depot.

IMHO- Lowes is better for building/contracting while Home Depot is better for "Home" decorating things. Glad you got your piece.

With the lowes ones you can also buy their regular slip or threaded unions to mix and match, or replace ends. No point in buying another valve to get new ends when you can buy a cheaper union or get threaded on one end and slip on the other.
