pyramid snails

I believe I have pyramid snails, and would like to know how to get rid of them. These are the small snails that have a spiral shell andare known to prasitize clams. Anyone have any suggestions??? - other than hand picking them off? I have not physically seen them on my clam, but they have clustered at the base of him.

From what I've read, that's one of the main places they feast, from the underside, near the foot. I believe the treatment is pretty much manual removal. Gently take the clam out of the tank and use a soft toothbrush (careful of the clam flesh) and brush the snails away. Continue a couple of times a week until they disappear.

That does not seem to be doing much good. They are all throughout my rock and sand. The problem exploided over a months time, or at least I noticed it exploid.

Understood. You might actually have better luck posting in the clams related section (just a few up).

If you dont have a clam being chewed up, there are many other kinds of itty bitty snails that tend to roam tanks at night. They could just be the harmless kind. The best way to tell is if there is or is not a gathering them at night on the underside of the clam
