Q about my new 6100s

Hi Roger,

I was directed here from the main forum. First, I just wanted to say that these pumps are AMAZING! I moved from Seios and wow it's night and day. Very very happy!

My first question is basic: I'm using the magnetic holders and one of my pumps continues to rotate forward (not sure what causes it). Of course, this messes up the flow pattern. Any way to remedy this?

Second question : I'm setting up my new tank any day and it's 4x2x30" tall. I have 6100x2 + multicontroller. How would you recommend I create great flow all over for my sps? It will look like this:

Thanks a lot!!

Usually they won't rotate if the teeth on the holder pieces are pressed together. If you continue to have trouble after checking this let me know. The pump should hang down below the arm and not sit above it.

I would try using interval 2, place one pump in each back corner aimed to the front center. Use a 6hr interval as the tides generally change every 6 hours. Use a 3 second pulse but start so the pulse top speed is low. Pulse between 30-50% until the corals acclimate to the increased flow.

Thanks for the help!

I'll double check the connector. They' hanging properly I believe... it may have been my tang knocking it. I have them in the middle (of the sides) currently, pointing to front middle and the corals are all doing fine. It's on a 2sec pulse with 30/80 and 40/100.

I tried reading the instruction book but I just don't get it. How can I set it to interval AND pulse at the same time?

I figured out interval 2 :) One pump switches between Low/High and the other is fixed at 30 and then it switches.

Is it better to have more frequent flow switching like 30 second interval 2, 3 sec pulse, 40-60 both pumps?

Thanks!

On all modes the pumps pulse, you set two speeds for each channel and the number of seconds it will run on each speed with the pulse knob. You set an Interval independently with interval button and knob. The 6hr interval mimics the tides. It is largely personal preference but I try to as closely simulate the natural conditions as possible.
