Q's about adding zoas

1. When can i add zoas? I have no ammonia or nitrite, i have 5 ppm nitrate (i will do a water change to get rid of that, its just that im cycling and im making sure that there wont be anymore ammonia or nitrite spikes) and i got the 95% cured rock last tuesday. No signs of an algae outbreak but when it starts to come i will get my cleanup crew. Im expecting algae any time now. Should i get some zoas when my cleanup crew has gotten rid of the algae and my parameters are stable? Or should my tank mature more?

2. What do i do when i get the zoas? Like what dip? Ive heard of those zoa eating nudi branches, but how do i get rid of them and the eggs? I will wear safety goggles and arm high rubber gloves and possibly a mask (safety first). I plan on buying a small frag of these, maybe like 2 or 3 polyps.

3. How do you pronounce zoanthid and how do you pronounce zoa? I say ZO-a

1. add zoas when your water parameters are in check...

2. get your zoas from a reputable source..

3. i say zoo anthid

I would dip them. Unless from a reliable fellow reefer. Better safe than sorry.

1. What Bebo said.

2. Fresh water at the same temp and PH as your display tank and add the recommended amount of lugols iodine directions are on the package. Except I think it calls for tank water. Fresh water will kill more and is fine for the zoas.

3. ZOO-anthid. Zoa I pronounce zoo.
