I just picked up two 6000s and Multicontroller today, one slightly used fo 3 mos.
I have a 90g SPS now, and am working on an upgrade to 120 in two or three months when I move. Because of the design of my DIY canopy I cannot use the mounting attachment in its usual form, so I'll be siliconing it in tomorrow.
First off, on pg 18, there are two "small plates", mounted on the ends of the rail. These are each screwed in with the smallest plastic screw, and the plate is then siliconed to the glass, left unweighted for 24 hr, etc...
Only one of the two Tunzes I picked up were previously used, and one had never been opened, but both packages had only 1 plate and 1 screw. Whats the deal? Can I order the plate, and do you think a hardware store carrys the screw?
Also, how easy do you think it is to get silicone off the plate, rail, etc.? I have read that silicone may breakdown some plastics, some had problems with bulkheads. I may choose to go with the standard mount of the next one, which will be an open-top 120 SPS, zoanthid setup with 67x flow, thanks to Tunzes and the closed loop. Would I be able to buy another mounting setup if the silicone kills mine?
Finally, have you heard of any problems adding wet, uncured silicone to a SPS reef?
Thanks Roger, and others.
