I have two oce's in a Qt one developed brooklynella, Treated both with fresh water dips and formalin. The formalin was an in tank treatment. After treatment carbon was placed in filter. My question is does this reappear like ich or will the in tank formalin treatment prevent further outbreaks. They have been in QT just shy of 2 weeks. Glad I did a QT.

I checked in a book "Disease in Marine and Aquarium Fish" by Causes et al and they did not answer your specific question, but formaldehyde + malechite green is the first line treatment.

I have done the treatment and they are currently Brook free. I just wonder if it would get in the sustrate like ich and reappear.

The life cycle of brook, is quicker then "ich", but manifests in a similar fashionl; seems to reappear as it moves through the phases.

30 days of QT to be safe.

Best of luck.
