QT equipment

I started my ttm but I will need to use my thermometer and heater on the next transfer. What is the best way to quickly sterilize them. Maybe bleach, alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide? The thermometer is just the probe.

Also is it necessary to do 2 doses of prazipro since if the fluke eggs dropped off the fish they would get tossed with the water on the transfer. I also plan on doing a formalin dip just before they go into the qt.

Hirazawa found that Cryptocaryon cysts can be killed by (wet) heating to 40C for an hour.

It's true that TTM will prevent reinfection by flukes for the duration of the treatment. However, "flukes" covers a wide variety of organisms, some of which might require a second treatment because they are reproducing on the fish and some life stages are resistant. I only use one treatment. Note that a Prazi bath is only effective for external parasites.

When I had flukes that killed two fish but not my clowns I did two three day treatments. I think that also took care of the internal and external. Correct?
I was thinking of giving the new arrivals a 3 day treatment not a "dip". Thoughts.

Before TTM, I observe them for at least a week - 10 days. During that time Prazipro is in the water the whole time. After TTM, I dose with Prazi again for another week.

Remember to remove any carbon during that period so that the dosage stays at the proper level.

IMHO, using Prazipro as a quick dip will be ineffective at best.

for shared implements i like to use a little bleach water, followed by a good rinse, and allowed to completely air dry for at least 24 hours.

Prazi is indicated for some internal parasites, including cestodes. Don't expect it to work for nematodes.

Seems like the most popular protocol is to dose on transfer 2 and 4. Number 2 is tomorrow am. It was soooo much easier to just put them into the dt at day one.
