I know some members here never qt fish but for those that do qt i have some questions for you...

Well I have 2 tangs in qt for 2 weeks so far that i bought from a wholesaler, they eating like pigs but very scared when i approched the tank.. How long do you wait if they eating well and no signs of ich or anything?

Second is if you were to buy a fish from someones 4 year old tank and they have not bought a fish in 6+ months, would you qt or just add them to your display tank? I feel that if eating well why qt since a small tank can cause them to stress more then a very large tank?

Third is if you own prize or expensive fish that also are in my other display tank for years, how long would you wait to enter a new reef that been cycled for 5+ weeks.. My issue is the longer I wait the more I feel the fish will not make a name for them selves since very small... I just know that there is always one mistake a reefer goes thru when starting a new tank..... These fish are my clown babies I raised from when I won at lira meeting from Todd Gardner (size was like 1/8 inch).. Also would you qt these fish?

I think the ones you get from someone else that you trust it's good to go into the tank, and so are your clowns.

The rest is a crap shoot. You have a huge tank and a ton of water volume so it wouldn't spread as easily in your tank as a small one, but still its a HUGE PITA if you put an infected fish in to try and get it out.

You use QT to prevent putting disease/parasites in your display. If you know where the fish are coming from, and you can trust the source, (be very careful, you may not be able to trust everyone you think you can) they can go right into your display. I personally wouldn't trust any store, and only a select few hobbyists.
