QT for Mandarin Dragonette: specifics?

I'm admittedly one of the many who got suckered into this hobby somehow, and in my efforts to cut corners, I've never QT'd or dipped my purchases. I'm paying for it now, obviously, but in an effort to right my wrongs and treat an Ich outbreak on a poor inhabitant, I am setting up a QT.

I am looking to set up a tank in the 20-40 gal range to hold my livestock -- Mated Maroon Pair, Blue Damsel, Kaudern Cardinal, Yellow Eye Kole tang (Ich infected), and a Mandarin Dragonette.

I've read up on what I need for a QT in general, but my question is if I need anything specifically to cater to the needs of my Dragonette. He currently eats, and the DT is full of pods, however, I am afraid of what might happen if he has no LR to graze on, etc. Should I QT with a chunk of LR?

Thanks!

A tough question and my answer will be controversial. If you are sure you have ich as opposed to velvet, I would leave the mandarin in your DT. Their slime coat makes them more than somewhat resistant to cryptocaryon irritans. Is it hunting? Breathing normally?

The Mandarin swims around and eats off the LR, breathes normally, seems to be doing fine. As for the Kole Tang, I'm pretty sure it's Ich. He looks like he's covered in salt, tiny white flecks that seem to be more prominent later in the day. I'd get a pic, but he hides from me...

Some info on the tank. 1 yr old, lost a Gramma to Ich about 10 months ago, no Ich since then. Added the Mandarin and Kole last week, and the Kole just started displaying symptoms a day ago. I figure the stress from the move, etc. made him more susceptible to what was already in my tank.

But if you think the Mandy can stay in the tank during the fallow period, that would make my life a lot easier!

I don't qt this species, and while they can get it, they usually do so when injured (a gap in slime coat) or in water so incredibly bad (alkalinity deficit) that they can't maintain their slime coat. It is the one fish I would leave in while the tank goes fallow, because if you keep water well, you should not find them hosting the pest.
