I am QT all fish b/4 they enter my 75 gallon reef... HOWEVER I am wondering what treatment? For a blackfinned goby and a bluespotted jawfish.. If I keep them in QT for 2 weeks treat w/ Prazi do I need to do TT? Neither of these fish are prone to ich? When I purchase my Kole Tang I will do TT for sure b/c tangs are ich magnets? I fear I will be stressing out my fish doing TT as they prefer sand.. and while they are in QT I am going barebottom?

Suggestions?

I combine Prazi with TT. I dose Prazi at the onset of transfers 2 & 4. Just be sure to crank up the air stone (or whatever you are using for gas exchange) to compensate for Prazi oxygen depletion. After TT completes, observe for 1 month to watch for symptoms of other diseases. Which should all have obvious visible symptoms.

During the 1 month observation, put some sand in a small glass pyrex bowl for them.

you can do sand in small Tupperware bowls during TTM as well, you just need to throw out the sand each time (and clean/dry the container it was in). but really, any fish that 'requires' sand can do with sand for a two week period.

I assume you mean "do without sand". While this is "true" I always supply sand (in tupperware and then discard it) because I am concerned about mouth damage.

oops, quick fingers today! yes, fish can do without sand for a couple weeks, is what I meant. but as you state, i have always supplied the sand. easy enough and im sure helps them cope better.

i hadn't considered mouth damage before.

i have gone bare bottom in my DT now anyway, so no more having to deal with sand sifters! makes things a little bit easier, but lose out on the ability to have certain cool fish.
