QT questions

What size tanks do you guys use for QT tanks? If you are planning on added multiple fish at the same time, do you have each fish in a different tank or put them in the same QT?

I am starting to get things together for a big build in the next year or two, so when the next $1/gallon sale at Petco happens, I was planning on getting an extra 40b or two. Just want to know if that should be enough because I want to do a 240 DT, with 3 tangs, Regal, Powder Blue, and Yellow, I want to have as little aggression as possible. So I was thinking of adding them at the same time after the tank has been setup 6-12 months, but I am looking for opinions.

I will be getting them small because I want to have them grow up in my tank, but again I want what is best for the fish, so I want to know the best way to QT multiple fish.

Any advice is welcome.

A 40 breeder for a QT is a great size. They are not going to be in the QT but for around 8-10 weeks, therefore they should be perfectly fine. I've done the same, but with a 20 long on a regal tang before (6 less inches long than the 40 breeder). As far as putting 3 tangs in a 40 breeder at once I would think you would be OK. Your main concern would probably be the bioload. I would make sure the tank is cycled before placing them in. I like to use a sponge from my DT and then give the tank a couple of weeks to mature. Just keep a close eye on the tank for ammonia build up.

I was planning on using the the sponge method as well, I know that Tangs can be kind of upset with a tank that is too new, so I was planning on the tank being running close to 12 months before adding them, but I want to add them at the same time to try to keep the aggression down.
