QT ready?

I'm setting up my QT for a few new fish. I had often just used my 90 as the trial area before going to the 180, but now have a dedicated 30g to use.

I have a heater, AquaClear HOB filter, powerheads, and a light.

The main Q I have is biological. I was planning on adding a rock or two from my established tanks and just plop it on in the QT. Is that enough? Am I forgetting something? I figure adding the LR would be instant bio filtaration and the QT immediately will be ready, assuming slainity, pH, temp, etc are fine.

Thanks.

MOST people will tell you to NOT place any live rock in the QT tank just in case you wind up having to treat a fish in there. Most meds will kill everything on the rock.

Just use some pvc pipes/fittings for places for the fish to hide.

And for bio filtration, just run your HOB filter in your main tank or fuge for a while and it will become colonized with bacteria. Also, big water changes in a QT are your friend.
