QT tank for Maldives lyretail anthias

I'm am going to get a group of 3 females or 3 females and 1male for my 125 short term until the 220g is up and running in the next few months. I currently have a 55g QT tank that has been set up for almost 9 wks. It has about 70lbs of live rock in it because I got it for really cheap and have no other place to put it currently. I am getting ready to move my Tommi tang out of the QT tank bc he has been in the tank for 7 wks now and I think I'm in the clear. Is there anything I am missing that will help me with short and long term success with keeping the lyretails healthy and happy? Please advise

Observe closely for the more subtle symptoms of parasites and worms. Mainly rubbing and twitching of the gills. If you need to treat, you'll need to remove all 70lbs of live rock and place it in a vat/container for a few months to decontaminate.

I para guard dip all my fish for at least a hr before they go into the QT tank and again when I move them to the DT. I know if I treat the tank I will have to remove the live rock prior to treating. Any other suggestions or if I am missing something please let me know

I really like SeaChem; but think their para-Gard really doesn't do much. It will not eliminate ich , as it claims; nor will it eliminate flukes and other worms, like praziquantil (Prazi-Pro) does.

Praziquantil is relatively reef safe and should be ok with your rock. PraziPro is the easiest to find. Aqua info sells it for $2 a gm. That treats about 125 gallons.

If you go with pure praziquantil you have to mix it with about a cc of vodka or other ethanol/methanol. For both place in high flow. I always repeat the dose in a week. It does not treat all worms, I have had issues with intestinal worms requiring mebendazole, but for monogenean in anthias it works wonders.

I use prazipro on all of my new fish as part of the QT process. I have had 0 issues with the product! It works great and does the job! Just follow the directions on the back of the label. No need to overdose the product it won't speed anything up! If you accidentally do though don't worry, it won't hurt the fish
