QT tank size question

Long story short I put in a fish without putting it in the QT first. Now ich is spreading. I have a 55 gal QT tank setup. My concern is putting in 3 medium sized tangs, a 5" powder blue, 6" purple and a 7" naso in this size QT tank. Anyone have any opinions towards doing this? I'm worried there may be to much aggression for the month that I intend to leave my display tank without fish in it.

Maybe I should have said 3 large tangs :)

I have tried the garlic route and I want to cure the entire tank. I am going take the hard but right path that every scientific article states. Pull the fish, copper treatment and leave the tank fallow for over a month.

that's not really even enough room for ONE of those fishes to be in during a 4-8 week quarantine. and it's not "over a month" but really an 8-week minimum if you want to guarantee getting rid of ich from the system. Ich can survive up to 8 weeks without fish! so if you treat them for a month then there's a good chance they're reinfected (check out the life cycle of Ich!!). it might be better to remove all live rock, sand, invertibres, and carbon filtration from your display tank and use that for treatment :( To re-add the rock, sand invertibres... you'll have to clean out any medication really well first.

Do you have nitrification in QT?

Absolutely necessary especially for so many fish.

You must cycle for the QT, in general.

anyway, better to treat them than not. put them in the QT asap. hopefully you have a sponge filter from the display tank you can add to your QT to get the cycling quick jolted.

I decided to use my dry 100 gal frag tank for the first month of hyposalinity treatment. I pumped 100 gallons off my main system to fill the tank. I have a sponge filter that has been in my sump for months. I intend to move the fish into the 55 gal for weeks 5 & 6 of QT. I'll only do that if I decide to use Cupramine for weeks 5 & 6.
