QT top off water

any harm in using tap water for QT top offs since its bare bottom and lights hardly on etc...just thinking I can save a lot of my RO water if its not necessary..

I have chlorine in my tap water, so for me,,that would have to go.

I use RODI for everything, with 0 TDS, at least I know both the good and bad ions have been removed, and I can put just the good stuff back.

That being said, tap water has been used for years before affordable RODI systems, so I assume if you use something like Prime to condition this water, should be OK.

Just don't know what's cheaper, RODI, or conditioned tap water.

Like uncle said, use some conditioner and let the water sit overnight and it should be fine.

If you plan to QT corals though you're going to want to start using RODI

If it's just fish then conditioned tap water is just fine

We simply cannot answer the question because we have no idea whats in your tap water..
Believe it or not but some people don't use RO/DI water at all and run their tanks on tap water without issue..
Others would quickly have problems..
All depends on whats in your water..

RO/DI water is cheap insurance.. Just use it..
