QT treatment: wrasses

OK - so I've searched and have found either inconclusive or contradicting or unclear advice.

I've lost many wrasses in QT, and have read where folks do treat them proactively, some not. I believe I've found posts where Snorvich and other experienced folks don't even acclimate the little guys (temp only) but put them in QT ASAP.

Now.

For fairy wrasses do folks find success with not treating them at all? I understand they don't take FW dips well, what about formalin dips? What concentration of the usual 11% solution (I.e. Kordon rid Ich)? 30-60 min dip?

Do they take curpramine better than formalin?

I've had a few die in captivity with similar symptoms: heavy breathing, frayed fins, listlessness, brown/rust at edge of tail fin. Takes about a week or two for the fish to finally perish.

Once I've thrown everything at the little guy: cupramine, CP, antibiotics, API gen cure, Prazi. Still died. Then another fish I only treated with Prazi and watched him not get any better after 2 weeks (then went carpet surfing...that's fixed now).

So what's the general successful tips for getting these guys out of QT? What works well?

This guy I dipped in meth blue for a day then put into QT to chill and treated once with Prazi. His fins are beginning to fray and have a brown tint to the edges.

IME, I have had some die, some lose their appetite, and some act like nothing never happen when I dosed Prazi-Pro. I have had some just die for no reason w/o any meds. For as CP there are certain ones that are very sensitive to hit. There is a thread on here somewhere that list all the wrasses that cannot take CP. All has been successful with Formalin baths. I do Formalin baths upon arrival. I use TTM for all fish with 2 rounds of Prazi-Pro during 2nd and 4th transfers. Then 6-8 week observation period with a round of CP, depending on fish. I personally don't use cooper as I feel it can be dangerous and unsafe for the fish. Hope this helps?

IME, the key to success with wrasses is allowing them to settle in after transport, then ensure they are eating well and on a regular schedule. I also do water changes every couple days to ensure water quality is high. I usually give them a couple weeks before I start treatments (same as above, TTM with prazi dosed on the second and fourth transfer).

Yup, guys, it is. This guy I've just put in a 50 gal QT and treated him with prazi. I'm going to hold off on the panic of treating him just yet. He ate since day 1 and still has his appetite. I look at them then get paranoid they have a disease. However, I've also lost a good number of fish by doing nothing and hoping they get better. Rarely have I gotten it just right.

Thanks for the tips, and I'll leave this guy well-enough alone for a while.

So for those of you who let hang out in QT without the proactive treatments...after you TTM and all that - where do you keep them for further observation? Surely not back into the original QT?
