Wait? Freshwater. Yes, you read that right.
The reason I am asking is for comparison purposes. So with saltwater what I do for quarantine/ttm setup are:
* tank
* 1.025 water
* a pvc pipe
* air stone / air pump
* I do water change every 2-3 days.
My hospital tank/quarantine has seeded sponge which I do weekly water change.
Now for freshwater are the items and process the same except for the water of course? The reason I am asking is I had the mistake of buying by impulse a bunch of Neon Tetras from Petco and didn't realize they have ich. I am doing heat treatment for 14 days to combat ich on the main tank (There's medication as well but I prefer not to go there yet). Surprisingly it's less hassle to deal against ich in an infected freshwater tank than a mixed reef tank.
Now for seeding a hospital/quarantine tank, do I seed a sponge as well on the main freshwater tank and use that seeded sponge? (of course after I have eradicated ich from the main tank--again freshwater).
Thanks
