Quarantine inverts and corals?

I've never heard of putting inverts in QT, but if you're getting acros, montis, or zoas that commonly get pests, you might consider it. A lot of peoples just dip corals.

You would use something like Revive, a coral dip, put some DT water in a bucket, the recommended amount of coral dip and let it sit with an airstone for 10-15 minutes so hitchhikers will drop off. Then 2, 10 minute DT fresh dip for the rinse, then to the DT it goes, after careful inspection. I use a magnifying glass.

I also use a small toothbrush and clean the bottom or the mount.

If doing SPS, especially Acros, many use Bayer as the dip to remove a Red Bugs, seems that's all that works on these. There is a ton of experiences on the net using Bayer, but be careful with it.

The whole point is a QT will not separate pest, from coral, but dips for the most part do.

Inspect carefully anything that goes to your DT.

IMO, absolutely necessary or the pests will get in your DT, then, that is a problem.

Since dipping, I have not one pest in my DT.

+1 on dipping, I dip any and all corals I get unless its from a trusted source like a friends established tank, even then I might do a quick dip just to be on the safe side.

CoralRx is a good product for dipping, I've never tried the Bayer method, then again I don't have any acros either lol

I QT my inverts (ie snails and shrimp) because ich can encyst on their hard skeletons. Should be at least 2 weeks in a fishless system. Longer is safer.
