quarantine questions

I have a fish in quarantine who is showing a few spots of ick. I want to do right by him and get him better but I have a couple of questions.

1. in doing hyposalinity I've heard that the ph can be thrown off by lowering the sg. what's the simplest, safest way to adjust the ph back up if it drops?

2. how do I make sure I don't inadvertently contaminate my main tank. I have separate buckets etc, but how do I make sure nothing gets transferred on my hands? Is washing them before I go to feed my main tank enough?

1.) Add more buffer.

2.) Yes, wash and dry hands thoroughly and use separate nets, hoses, buckets, etc.

baked baking soda will work for the ph or a little of limewater (kalk). It's a lot easier if you are using a PH monitor.
