Quarantine = stress?

Hi!
Have read some of quarantine aquariums and have come up with some questions I have not found the answer.
Have read that you should replace any water every day to keep the nitrites down.

1 Wouldn't water change be very stressful for the fish, like 1 change per day?
2 How much of the tank water should change every day?
3 Will a skimmer help to maintain good water quality, against ammonia, nitrit and nitrat?

Hoping for answers!
Thanks,
Haimat

Much depends on the size of the quarantine tank. A small system will need to be monitored more closely as the water conditions can change more dramtically than in a larger tank. That said, a properly cycled quarantine system should be relatively easy to maintain. A small hang on filter, heater, no substrate, test water parameters regularly (salinity/trates/pH) and do small water changes as in indicated. Actually a quarantine tank can be less stressful for fish; no competition for food, no other tankmates to contend with, etc..
