Quarantine Tank(QT)

i think sponger0 has this covered mostly, i also recommend reading some sticky's on top of forums and go through the sticky call Guide to setup a QT.
lots and lots of reading will save u lots and lots of headache and money over time.
I can see how drop in tank doesnt work long term. Just looking for serenity.

Ill have to explain it. I cant find a good link. Most are garbage.

When first starting a tank, people use live rock or ammonia or table shrimp. The waste from live rock or shrimp will cause ammonia. Or you can just add ammonia to the tank. Then it will turn the ammonia into nitrite and then to nitrate. This is your beneficial bacteria growing and colonizing your tank. Thats basically it in a nutshell.

I'm getting pounded.

Not pounding you.. People just want you to be successful but a lot of new hobbyist are not because thy are never informed of the first rule to SW fish keeping which is read, read, read...back in 04 I decided to just start a tank and the Internet was not as resourceful as now so I failed bad... I then bought books and read a lot, once I got into reef clubs I learned and kept reading... To this date I still keep asking questions even after 7 years of this... Some people on here or other sites have been doing this since the 80's and they are still learning... So don't take it as a bad thing.. We are just trying to help you out for the long haul :)

been reading as much as possible, feels like a 2nd job ;) reefing is fun and i look forward to it. Great way to meet people and get out in the world.

Honestly, it is very demanding hobby once you get deep into it... A lot of the books and references out their are confusing but as you read the books write your questions down and we can all help you out... The biggest thing in this hobby is the cycle... The first 4-6 weeks of your tank... If done properly, you should have a nice successful tank but if you rich it... You will have ongoing issues and possibly hair pulling ones that will frustrate you out of the hobby... I think most reefers preach patience and trust me I am no patient man but I have to be in order to deal with my reef tank....
