Quarantine tank

Would it be alright to use a plain 10 gallon package that you can get at walmart to quarantine fish? I was planning on setting one up and just doing 25 percent changes a day, for two weeks. Is this a good or bad idea?

I have another question about this. I read in the fish illness section that you can put your fish in a hyposalinity environment. If it is a good idea to go with my quarantine method would it also be a good idea to put the fish in low salinity water to purge any parasites and what-nots that could have come from the LFS?

I am not an expert on this, but i think a 10g will work fine for one fish. Use a heater, airstone maybe and a light. But i am not sure about 25% WC every day. And as far as hyposalinity, i am not sure as to that either.

I use a Walmart 10g with an Aquaclear filter for my QT tank. I do about 20-25% water changes, but it's with the water from my main tank when I do its water change. I've never had detectable levels of nitrites or nitrates, much less ammonia. I've only tried hypo as a preventative measure once and I lost the fish. It probably wasn't a result (at least not directly) of the hypo, but it makes me nervous now. Many very experienced reefers always use hypo as a preemptive treatment for new fish.
