Quarnantine

Quarantining fish. I was told not to feed marine fish metronidazole mixed into the food while treating them with a copper based medication (Cupramine). Is this statement correct? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see a problem with it, did they happen to tell you why they didn't believe you could use them in conjunction with one another?

I've done it plenty of times in the past with seemingly no ill effects when I worked retail. It came from a knowledgeable person but quite possibly they may not be too familiar with disease treatments. IDK. I just want to make sure the fish that I receive are "clean" inside and out. And no they did not give me a reason why which is usually a question I always ask.:hmm4:

Given that one is a medication (antibiotic) and the other a water treatment, I can't really see how someone would come to that conclusion.

Copper, in proper concentration, has no effect on the fish, it's diluted into the water column to attack crypt in the free swimming stage of the Crypt lifecycle.

Antibiotics are completely different, in that they rid the fish of a bacterial infection. They can have an effect on the bio-filter, but metro. is tailored for anaerobic bacteria, that won't be present to any degree in a QT.
