Quarnatine Damage

I have purchased an ORA orchid dottyback about 2.5 weeks ago, and recently have completed the recommended duration of cupramine treatment.

However, when looking at my fish in the QT tank, his fins have become torn up, and his sides have blotches that are discoloured.

Is this physical trauma (he's alone in the QT.. and there probably arn't any inverts sneaking around in the filter as i cupramine'd it) but i can't figure out if anything causing the trouble.

Now fin rot/scale damage could be due to some disease, and thats what i need help to diagnose.

I've added some melafix a couple of hours ago (probably won't do anything from the reviews i've read around here) but it's worth a shot.

Could it be flukes/worms.. or not another parasite ?
The fish is still kinda eating (maybe the pieces of mysis i give him are too large), so thats good news. It's just that if i plop such a tiny fish in my fowlr (150 gal) he might not due so well.. but hey dottybacks are supposed to be tough SOBs....

Thanks in advance

I highly doubt it is the Cupramine unless the dosage was way off. More likely ammonia or disease. I would check all water parameters and do a big water change. I'm assuming you bought it at an LFS so even thought it is ORA the LFS probably exposed it to some type of disease. If all water parameters are fine then maybe do a FW dip to see if it has flukes (Cupramine does not kill all flukes.)

ahh plan to use praziprofor flukes.. but yeah just wanted to confirm

ammonia levels that are too high will do out-ward physical damage .. not just gill-burning ?
