i just recently bought a large queen angel to put in my 200 gallon along with my blonde naso tang, 2 lion fish, polleni grouper, and a panther grouper. How long has anyone ever kept a queen? This is the 3rd queen that i've kept. Anyone have any tips?

Well if it stays healthy and disease free and doesnt get in fights with your other fish, it willl live probably for several years.

I have done some research on queens and they say they live up to 15 to 20 years. So, that being said yours is already an adult so it will live around 7-10 years maybe more.

One thing people don't mention is adult queens are almost exclusuvely sponge eaters. The problem with many is that they don't switch to aquarium food. If they eat they are hardy and live well, but sometimes you have trouble getting larger ones to feed.

o thankx.. my queen is eating fine, but i think when i got him from the fish store, he got stressed and probally has ich right now. Im boosting up the temp. and feeding him garlic. I should also keep the lights off.

I've had my queen for two years now. I also have a french and and emperor . One rule of thumb ive always followed with large angels is getting them no bigger than 5'. them medium size 3-5 ' angels have a bettor chance of surviving in the home aquarium because their not accustomed to ocean food yet. larger specimens also come with ocean parasaites at times. good luck. just make sure you buy food with sponge or even order sponges on line .

I have a queen angel also, where are you guys finding sponges to feed them? I've been soaking his food with vita-chem.

Up your feeding schedule. Try feeding 3 times per day. Also keep and eye on your ph. Try to keep as steady near 8.2 as possible. If fed well and given a proper enviroment she will recover.

I'd QT all the fish, I really don't see a way around that. I had to do that with my old queen and emperor angels. Left the tank fishless for 8 weeks and treated the angels with hypo. Never had a problem after that. Now I have a different setup with a 6" emperor and he got pretty sick, I have him in QT and the tank fishless again. I tried getting around QT, there is no such way. You can feed all you want, have perfect waters, if ich is in your tank, your fish will get it at some point in time. It's very frustrating, believe me, I know all too well, but it's what has to be done.

Nice fish, to keep them well keep good water quality , good feeding and very important a lot of place to hide.

when i bought my QA after 2 days the fish start to have lympo i kept him in the tank and never take him out, in 5 days the fish was cover all his body with the lympo . with good feeding & good water quality in 3 weeks the fish was clean .
