Question about 6105

Would a pair of tunze 6105s be enough flow for a 6 foot long 115gallon tank? I plan on putting one on each side but I am worried if they will be enough flow in the midsection of the tank, also if I would have too much trouble kicking up sand.

Enough is not the issue, possibly too much, I agree kicking up sand could be an issue at top speed but at top speed the flow will reach the far end and have some bounce back. What do you plan to keep?

Mixed reef at the moment. The main reason I want to go controllable is so that if I ever decide to go full sps I will have that option without having to replace my pumps.

It would work, but I suspect you will need to turn them down, aim them slightly up and run only 1 at a time and alternate flow direction. Until the 6095 comes out, it would be your best bet, even with the 6095, full blown SPS the 6105 would be a better choice.

Thanks for your help, next payday I will have to see about picking a set of these up and playing around with them.

I had a single 6105 in my 72" 125g. I got wave action on the far side of the tank. Honestly I had to aim the unit slightly at the glass to soften it up a bit. They are really potent units.

My tank has two overflows, each about 1 foot from either end and about a 2-3 foot space in between. Since I have this "cove" from the overflows would it be better for me to go with 2 6105s or maybe a couple of smaller pumps like that 6055? Also is there any information out on the 6095 yet?

The 6095 is now listed on tunze.com and has specs and pricing. We are on time for this project for September. I don't see the overflows making much difference, I am guessing what you describe is like the stock Oceanic Overflows and you can get some dead spots in those corners but I am not sure the 6105's will do much better without making a sandstorm in the other parts of the tank.
