Question about AEFW

Rat Bastard!
I've been treating the remains of a Purple Nana (thread) and think that I've just about got them licked but I have a question.

If I manage to get rid of the worms and eggs that were on this coral and they haven't spread to any other corals are they gone? Can these buggers hang out on the rocks or do they have to be on SPS in order to survive? Just wondering if it's safe to start placing the rest of my frags in the new tank or if I should keep them on the racks until I'm finished treating the one that was infested.

Thanks,
Mike

The safest bet is to ensure they do not have a food source for an extended period. Others on this forum will be able to tell you the exact time period.

You could always "test the waters" by tossing a cheap tricolor in there and see if anything eats it after a few days.. they are such AEFW magnets you'd know pretty quick.

AEFW will die with no food source. No way to guarantee how long that will take in your system. Just play it safe and wait a month or two.
