Question About AquaC Remora Pro Skimmer...

I got a question about the pump for my HOB skimmer, should I use the intake strainer on it even though I have the surface skimmer box? Its almost impossable to get the pump into the skimmer box with the strainer on it, and after my battle with it today I removed it and said to hell with it. It came with a big plastic cover so no fish can get into it, but that really doesnt fit inside the surface skimmer. Anyone had problems with this thing like me? Its got a Rio 1400 pump on it.

maxi jet 1200 may fit better. i have a non pro but it did not come with the strainer for the power head. I don't have the skimmer box though.

maxi jet 1200 is for regular remora i got one, but i also have a pro and i use the small strainer until my sea hare got suck up against it so i use the bigger strainer. inofrder for it to fit you have to take of strainer off powerhead. i couldn't stand that big surface skimmer and actually put a rio 2500 on my remora pro and it really skims awesome now.
