question about bulkheads

ok, so I picked up a couple durso's over the weekend. It's the AGA megaflow kit, and included 3 bulkheads. All 4 holes in the bottom of my 120 are 1", and I can use 4 of the 6 in the kits. The question I have is about the bottom's of the bulkheads. they are hose barbs. So what kind of pipe should I use for these connections? I was thinking about using spa flex sched. 40, but I don't think it will work. I was planning on having the 2 drains run into a Y or T, and then into the sump, and then the same for the returns. What do you guys think? Should I just pickup new bulkheads that are threaded?

I would get the threaded, allows for much better flexibility when installing everything. here is the site I ordered mine from;

You can get some salt creep with threaded fittings, but they are better in the sense that you can change out the connections later, if you use slip then you are kind of stuck with it, unless you want to heat and remove the glue later down the road.
I agree Aquatic Ecosystems has the most and best prices on bulkheads. They can be ordered in many combinations of threads or slip and material thickness'.

Chris, what do you mean by heat and remove? I've got a plumbing connection I have to remove and replace in my basement, can a joint be un-welded???

Apparently they can, I had a couple guys in the club tell me they heat the fitting up and then pop out the pipe with a screwdriver. I suppose its possible, its only glue it's technically not "welded" or "melted" like ABS or acrylic.
I think one guy may have been Cliff you might ask him.

ok, I think I know what I need.... I think I need 2 - 1" bulkheads, one with a 1" slip connection on the flange side, and one with a 3/4" slip connection on the flange side. here are pics of what I have now.

Todd told me about it. With spa flex, I was able to use boiling water and brute force. Todd used a torch, I believe, for the rigid PVC.

I told you about it too. lol. I was used my little propane torch and heated around the glued area and it just popped apart. I think Paul chimed in too about that he did the same thing.
