question about combination of lights

We have a combination MH/PC ballast that holds 2 96W pc's and 2 250W mh's. Is there any problem with combining 1 actinic pc and 1 2-in-one blue & daylight pc? Also when we bought the lighting system (used) it had 34" length pc's but there's room for up to 42" length. Will there be a problem with getting longer pc's as long as they are the same wattage?

IMHO, as long as there is enough light for the tank inhabitants, color temp is a matter of personal opinion as long as you don't go to high in the spectrum. (reds)

As for the bulb length, It may be a bit dark on the ends where there is no coverage. If you decide to upgrade to longer bulbs, switch to T-5's.

I guess I was just worried about creating an electrical hazardâ€"œnot sure how important it is not to mix up the light temp/length.

We're not really interested in T5's since they would require a retrofit.
