Question About DOC Skimmer Impellers

Roger,

You mention in the "How to Clean a Stream" thread that the new impellers will all look like this, beginning around January '06:

I think this update applied to all pumps, DOC skimmers included. The 9020 I purchased this past November has the old-style impellers.

Would there be any benefit in replacing the impellers (longer life, quieter, etc.)?

Thanks!

:D

Only electronic pumps can use such a drive unit, a skimmer pump still needs the brakes. On electronic pumps the electronics control the start up direction. Part of how we achieve our energy efficiency is unidirectional impellers, if the pump has no electronics it needs the brake shoes to correct direction. The 6060 and 6080 stream have no electronics and still need the old drive unit.
