Do female flame wrasse change into a male when there is no male present?
I am asking this because my lfs has cheap female flames (30$) but expensive males(130$). So I was thinking about getting a female and letting it change into a male, then adding another 2 females.
So, do they change?

I would add the females at once, and let the dominant one change.

I started with one large male and three tiny females. I now have two large males, and two big females.

Absolutely. 3 females will yield at least one male.

I'd be very happy if you would post some photos of the trio when you get them settled and after the change. I'm curious if they color the same. I would assume so, because what I'm understanding is they are all female at birth...

Thx and good luck. $90 for what would be $350 in my home town is a great deal

I will post pics, but for now I have to order females first, because they only had a pair and I don't need a pair. I am not paying 160$ for a pair when I can get a trio for 90$ :)
