Question about fragging a torch.

I am wondering if when fragging a torch you need to cover the the cut in the skeleton?
I fragged my TT a while back and later removed the original piece from the disc it was mounted to and wedged the branch in where I wanted it, leaving the bottom of it somewhat exposed. The coral later died :sad2:and I am wondering if it died because the inside of its skeleton was exposed?
Has anyone ever experienced anything like that, or maybe had a torch under the same conditions that died and never really thought about it?

I always just cut then allow to settle down for a day then mount never had any issue tt is hard as it likes to split when you frag it how did you cut it dremel or bone cutters

I have never dragged a torch, but all the other euphyllia I have just cut them with bone cutters. I never have a problem with hammer or frogspawn.

Whenever I used my bone cutters on todds it usually ind of cracks the stalk every time this has happened it has lived but the head split immediately a dremel has always given me a nice clean cut

I just used a 14 tpi sawzall blade in my hand and it didnt split, I have done this many times with my frogspawn and no problems.
I was just digging for possibilities because everything else in my tank was and is fine but the TT melted away.
