Question about Keyhole Limpets and Hydroids

Hi,
So I did a terrible thing... and it is something that I know I shouldn't have done but I guess I wasn't thinking at the time. Anyways, I had this big clam she'll that I found on the beach some 10+ years ago that has been sitting around on my desk collecting dust and I cleaned it off (quick rinse of water) and put it in my refugium (separate tank from my main although it was connected before this instance). Well... about two hours later I notice these tiny spider web looking things dotted on the glass (hydroids)! I immediately removed the shell and started researching (critter id/etc.). After reading up on them I found several forums and an article that said keyhole Limpets will eat them...
I guess i was wondering if anyone had any information on the subject of Keyhole Limpets/Hydroids?
From what I've read is that hydroids are similar to aptasia in the way that they can reproduce from pieces being broken off from forced removal. Also, that they are a colonizing sort...

I have keyhole limpets and haven't noticed them noshing down on them, but most of my limpets are in the sump. Maybe I should move a few.

Ahh, well I read that they can eat on corals and stuff too (just a heads up)... not sure if that was accurate information though. Just letting you know. :)
Also read that keyholes are the type of Limpets that are carnivores, is that true?
Was thinking about getting one or two and plopping them in with the hydroids but I'd like to know more about other hobbyist's experience with them first.
