Can I mix the mantis? I mean can I put more than one mantis in the same tank? Do they will kill each other? Does mantis come up on the land or they just stay under the water?
The question being ask because one of my friend what to set up the mantis tank and he want the tank to look more like the clift, I mean some lr will be under the water and some will be off the water but if mantis will just stay under the water then there is no point for him to set the tank like that.
I guess is he thinking mantis is some how related to turtle.....but I just have to ask anyway.
thanks

in large tanks small mantids can often avoid each other enough to not kill each other off, but in anything less than 75 gal i wouldnt bother trying. Some mantids are intertidal (do your research carefully on which) but without an actual simulated tide i dont see the point in having some rock out of water. i dont think it would hurt, i just dont think there's any use to it.

How big's your tank? as mentioned you can keep more than one together if they have enough space to establish their own territories.
Problem with that is you may need a six foot long tank to house two small mantis, and even then they may grow and end up killing each other any way.
I have 2 1' cubes sitting right next to each other to house my mantis pretty much looks like 1 tank with a glass divider in it from the front. Might be an option.
