Question About my Clam--- Pic

I have a clam, im new with clams so im not sure whats going on, if there is somthing going on?

It looks like parts of the clam are turning tan is this normal? Im running a Sun pod 150watt metal halides

Salinity is at 1.023
Temp 78-80
Everything else is normal

Likely the clam just getting adjust to brighter light, maybe local bleaching. I think it will do just fine given a little time.

Its a 24 gallon Aquapod Maybe I have them on too long? the hours I have them on are 5:30am-1:30pm them 5pm-11:30pm

Why do you have them on twice per day? It would be much more natural to have it on for 12 hrs straight per day.

I just bought the sunpod like 2 weeks ago its a 14,000 bulb.
its the stock one that came with it.

put a small fan turn on with the light. evaboration will decrease your tank by at least 3 degree.

150w halide over a 24g on twice a day? waste of the bulb and electricity if u ask me. i would only run it for 6-8hrs a day.

24 gal tank + 150 watts = 6.25 watts per gal. You should be able to keep pretty mush anything in that tank. I would run the lights for 8 hours.

watts per gallon is a little decieving. depending on how deep the tank is, your probably not getting enough light down to the bottom, for light loving clams. 150's probably get to 18" and not with enough intensity. i would move the clam up onto the rock work closer to the light.

It should be fine. A 24 gallon Aquapod is not that deep. Just make sure your parameters are stable as a tank that small can easily shift. Good luck.

What staggering? He just have one bulb so it's either on or off. Having two or more bulbs then you can stagger. Two photo period in a day is unnatural to say the least. He is turning the light off due to heat and temperature with the light. Just put a fan, same control as the light and the heat problem is solve. Onlything is you will have more evaboration.
I have the same tank at this time and I use a smal six inches fan from Target. I don't even point the fan to the water, just blow over the tank is all I need to keep the temperature at 80 degree when the light is on. I have to use a heater at night to keep the temperature at 80.
My tank stay at 80.2 to 80.6 all the time.

while a 150 W over 24 g tank is bright, it is not as bright as natural sunlight. It is hard to overlight Crocea. 150 W sunpod, 24 g nano tank tend to get hot to about 84 degree when the MH is on, he got to get the heat problem solve. If he can keep the temperature stable at 84, his coral and clam will be fine, but that is pushing it a little. I prefer keeping it lower from 80-82. Accurate thermometer is a must, just like all our instrument that we use.
