well it would be nice to have a pic to know what species is your serpent star... In my opinion if he is hiding on the rocks then he is acting as a normal serpent star, I have had some pretty big black serpentstars from the Pacific coast of Mexico and they where hiding beneath the rocks almost all the time, soma months ago, when I dismanteled this tank they re apeared biger...

On nature most serpent stars hide and only leave one or two arms outside to smell the water and feel current changes, they are more active by night.

im not going to be able to get pics for about a week.
and im realy srry its a Red Brittle Starfish. i feel all dumb lol .i got him from reefscavengers.com.( there a realy a realy good company)
thanks for helping me.

Sounds like normal behavior to me. After having my serpent for a few weeks I'm starting to find him in different areas once in a while, and I have seen him moving around in the shade of the rocks even with the lights on. He has one particular cave that he always returns to after going out for a walk. I'm still amazed at how quick they can move when they want to!

They like to explore and move, but almost always by nite. And friend, do not feel sorry!!! Is allways exciting to find once again these wonderfull friends on your tank again and again!!! THey really worth the effort to take care of them, even if you don´t see them as often as you want ;o)

And, the brittle and serpent stars are typically hardier and easier to keep alive & well than some of the other stars like the sand sifters, Fromia and Linkia types.

ok guys, thanks a lot for being realy nice. I thought he was sick or somthing. If u want u can c my gallory and c my dwarfs.
Thanks again for all the advise,
