I just bought a new skimmer and was wondering if theres a quick fix for the micro bubles getting in my sump and if the return line should be underwater ? thanks ...

Can you tell us a little more about your setup:

Which Octopus skimmer?

What's your sump layout like (chambers, etc.)?

Are the microbubbles making their way to the display?

the pipe where the water exits the skimmer should not be totally underwater, just partially to cut down on splashing. if it's submerged the back pressure can mess with the skimming.

aim the exiting water away from the baffles and return pump so the bubbles have to go past the skimmer, then thru the baffles, and finally to the return.

its a 30 gallon acrylic amiracles sump, with single center wall (no bubble trap) the skimmer is a 2010 reef octopus nw-110-6520b ...and the bubbles are in the display .

The microbubbles will settle once it breaks in... either way, it's a helluva upgrade from the Berlin! :)

I bet after a few days you won't even need the sock. I would say most new skimmers will produce microbubbles until broken in.
