Question about pairing

I read the article but I'm still not sure. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I recently lost the male to my pair of new guinea true percs, So I went out and bought what I was told was a fullbar Male. So obviously I drip him and put him and as usual I underestimated the size and it is just barely smaller than the one already in my tank. It's only been a day but they are still fighting and I have seen them lock lips a couple of times and neither seems to be backing down so I'm afraid that I have two females and should remove one. Any thoughts? Thank you

Do you have pics ? (although maybe they are posted and I cant see cause im at work) How big are the clowns? How old?

If there are no torn fins or physical damage then I wouldn't worry, give it time.. If damage occurs, get a breeder basket or some other way to physically seperate the two, let them see eachother but not physically interact. Try putting together again after a few days. In theory, over time you should still be able to pair two "male" clownfish (one will turn female).

I'm afraid that I might have two females, in that case won't one kill the other? It seems the Fullbar had taken a bit more dominance and had not hosted but is hanging out near the LTA the New Guinea is hiding by the powerhead now for the most part about 6-7 inches away on the same side of the tank. The only torn fins that seem to have occured was on the first night and that is on what appears right now to be the more dominant.

ohhhh.. ok, I read the post wrong earlier.. I thought you had two males.

Honestly.. Its hard to be definitive but it looks like you have a pair there..They are definitely old enough to have sexed.... When you put two females together you will know it, at least IME.

I always let them stay in the same tank unless the male is really getting beat up.. Fins tattered. Then I take measures to separate them.

Also...I have a pair (percula) that is over 2 years together and almost exactly the same size.. I can't even tell which one is the female and male.. There is no fighting, but no breeding either :(

Ya they seem to still be aggressive towered eachother just not quite as much. I still don't see one submitting to the other but I guess it could take more than a couple of days. I haven't seen them lock lips since the first night in the tank so maybe they are still feeling eachother out
