question about pipe organ coral

I have a pipe organ coral that seems healthy and happy.

It's growing a skeleton in the shape of a sphere, but only the top 25-30% of the sphere actually has polyps, the lower part is empty.

Is this usual? It's starting to look weird: almost like a head with hair or something. Just wondering if that's a usual shape or if the whole skeleton should have polyps.

thanks,

Hey Ricca!

I had mine start to do that when it was in the nano. Then when I put it in the display, it started to fill in the lower "dead" spots.

Things I did different: (1) Flow. He's about 5' down stream from a Stream Pump. (2) Under better lighting (as they're primarily photosynthetic) and (3) Probably getting some benefit from the weekly Phyto addition. Hope that helps.
