I am setting up a 65 gallon tank soon that has built-in overflow. The drain is 1" and the return is 3/4". The sump will be in the basement. I will be using an external pump, since the 3/4" bulkhead going in to tank is rated at 360 GPH, should I use a pump that gives me 360 GPH after calculated head loss? I was considering the Little Giant 3MDQSXC. I will have about 11 feet of head, 4 45 degree elbows, 2 ball valves, 1 check valve, and 2 threaded unions. Also will have about a foot of horizontal length.I have been using the head loss calculator on this site and it is awesome. My question is should I increase the size of the pipe to and from the display tank or should I leave it as 1" and 3/4"? I'm thinking about leaving the return line 3/4" because the bulkhead in the tank would ultimately slow things down anyway, but I was thinking about making the drain line a little larger, just to try to help things flow a bit more. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.
