Question about RO units

I am tired of buying and lugging RO water! I have no knowledge of what type of systems to buy. Money is no object so I would what the best out there = I don't want to buy another one later. I am running 180gal system. Any help or input would be nice.

I bought the spectra-pure 5 stage unit and I love it. It comes with 2 water meters so you can see water in and water out levels and it is just an all around heavy duty unit.

We recently bought the Typhoon III from Air, Water and Ice online. On the advice of others, we added a second DI canister to the system. We also got the TDS probe and two PSI gauges. We make a lot of water and this has met our needs well.

Make sure you get RO/DI. Not just RO.

I have an aqua safe also.Try the filter guys here on reef central.UNBELIEVEABLE customer service.

The main thing to keep in mind is that this is a situation where more is really less.

A 75 gallon per day membrane removes more nasties than a 100 gallon per day unit.

If you know your tapwater TDS and it's real high, sometimes it's cheaper in the long run to have two separate DI resin filters. In this way, as opposed to having a mixed bed resin filter which have to be thrown out when exhausted, you can go to separate cation and anion color changing resins. These resins can be "recharged" with normal household chemicals so you only have to buy them once.

Thanks for eveyone input - also what kind of containers or tanks everyone is using to store ro water. I was thinking of a rubbermaid stock tank???

I like to keep my RO water covered just b/c it's in the basement. There is a lot of dust and other particulate matter that seems to collect on the surface if I keep it in open containers.

Yes, my display tank is a stock tank, but with surface skimming the dust and what not doesn't seem to be an issue. :)

How much water are you planning to keep on hand? The Rubbermaid trash cans work really well and as Curt pointed out above, you can put them on wheels.

I have a brute trashcan in my basement with the lid on it and drilled a hole just large enough for the blue line off the ro to go into it. It holds I think 44 gallons of water so that should be plenty for top off and water changes.
